Emei buddhist mountain and Leshan Grand Buddha were listed as the World Natural and Cultural heritage together by UNESCO in 1996. Leshan Giant Buddha,the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world, sits at the confluence of the Minjiang river, Dadu river and Qingyi river.It has been very well preserved during the past 1,207 years.Emeishan(the Beauty Brow Mountain) is one of the four holy Buddhist mountains.It enjoys a worldwide fame as the most beautiful buddhist mountain in China. Historical monasteries hidden in the mountains, rare plant species and a lot of wild creatures make this mountain well known not only for its buddhist culture but also the attractive natural scenery.
Day1:Chengdu-Leshan-Mt.Emei Leidongping
Leave Chengdu for Leshan in the morning.On the way, we can enjoy the beautiful rural scene of West Sichuan Plain, the rice fields, tea plants etc. 2 hours later, we'll arrive at Leshan Giant Buddha located at Lingyun hill. As a saying goes 'the buddha occupies a hill and the hill hugs the buddha', visitors will be shocked by this 71 meters high buddha.Then, drive to Emei mountain and stay overnight at Emeishan city.
Overnight: Century Sunshine Hotel
Day2: Full day Emei tour
After breakfast in the hotel, change to the local pollution free sightseeing bus to Leidongping parking lot(2 hours drivering), then walk about 20 m inutes to catch the cable car up to Golden Summit . We'll visit the magnificent statue of Samantabhadra (Puxian bodhisattva), the Golden palace and the Silver palace, the cloud sea etc.Then,leave for Wannian monastery located in the waist of Mt.emei, after sightseeing in this temple, we'll walk down to Qingying pavilion, a strip skyline, and monkey mountain along the tranquil path hidden in the forest, enjoying the pleasure of the peaceful coexistence of man and monkey. Our trip will end when we drive back to Chengdu.
